6th grade students have been busy working on personal narrative essays. We have a beautiful collection of narratives about first camping trips, skiing, family, loss of loved one, cooking adventures, and more!

In the upcoming week and half student will continue cylcing through the writing process. We brainstormed, planned, and drafted. Now we'll be revising and editing, focusing on the following:

  • how to begin an essay with an attention-grabbing lead

  • how to include dialogue in a narrative essay

  • how to add details and chose specific and descriptive language

  • maintaining a consistent tense and voice throughout

  • formatting paragraphs

  • differentiating between commonly used homophones (like there/their/they're and your/you're).
